In our school, the safety of the children is of paramount importance. Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) is Mrs Jury-Sofi. Mrs Bunting is also part of the DSL team.
If you have any concerns about the welfare or safety of a child, please contact the school office and ask to speak to Mrs Jury-Sofi as DSL in the first instance, however there will always be a DSL team member you can speak to if she is not available. If the office is closed, for example outside of school hours or during the school holidays, please email headteacher@west-borough.kent.sch.uk
For urgent safeguarding concerns out of school hours, please contact the Front Door Service Team on 03000 411111 (or 03000 419191)
If you are concerned that a child is at risk of immediate harm, please contact the police on 999.
These are a range of services that you may find useful to access when the school is closed. In the document below are additional resources that you might find useful.
Local Children's Social Care: If you think a child or young person is at risk or being abused or neglected, contact the children’s social care team at their local council. If you do not know where they live, contact your local council’s team, the NSPCC or the Police for advice.

At West Borough Primary School, the safety and wellbeing of our students in the digital world is of the utmost priority. We are committed to ensuring that children are equipped with the knowledge and tools necessary to navigate the online landscape safely. Online safety is an important part of keeping children safe at West Borough Primary School. We have extensive security measures in place in school to help safeguard pupils from potential dangers or unsuitable material. Any online safety incidents are recorded and managed in accordance with our Online Safety Policy. Online safety is taught to all pupils explaining and demonstrating how to stay safe and behave appropriately online.
As part of our curriculum, we deliver comprehensive lessons on key topics such as self-image and identity, online relationships, online reputation, online bullying, managing online information, health and wellbeing, lifestyle, privacy and security, and copyright and ownership.
We also incorporate the Jigsaw RHE scheme, which provides additional resources to help our students develop a well-rounded perspective on these critical issues.
To highlight these important topics, our school proudly hosts an annual Internet Safety Day. This event focuses on issues in internet safety and guides students on where to find support. Furthermore, we ensure a secure online environment through regular monitoring and filtering of our in-school technology systems, allowing our students to access digital resources safely and responsibly.
Here are some extra websites regarding Internet Safety:
